I just turned 27 years old, but I feel much older with all I have been through.
I was diagnosed with lupus when I was twenty-two and it caused kidney failure. Before that I was a very
active healthy girl. My whole life changed drasically. I had to go on dialysis.
Dialysis is now my routine, going three days a week , 4 hours each treatment. I
am sick a lot. I don't have much energy anymore. But I stay optomistic and
positive. I do believe things happen for a reason. People tell me my attitude is
inspiring because of how happy I am and stay through my rough times.
Honestly, it is easy for me to deal with my period every month. I would much rather be dealing with a period than being in the hospital, or being so sick. When I do get my period each month it usually comes as a relief and a blessing. For two reasons, one being -the fact I still get my period as sick as I am, my doctor told me means there is still a chance someday i will be able to have children. The other reason is it tells me I am not pregnant now. I do not have the health or energy to have a baby now with my sickness. So many woman may be annoyed by their monthly cycle, but to me it's a good thing.
I have a lot of problems with my health. But I am so very blessed in life. I have the most caring loving husband, and the best parents and siblings you could wish for.
I may not be the typical face of always, but I always am smiling. I really believe in keeping a positive upbeat attitude about everything, whether it be a serious illness or your monthly period.
