My community is not small but I do little things here and there to make a difference. Lately I've been noticing some homeless people living on the streets near my house by the train station. I know there are shelters but I wanted to do something else to help them. I requested to the city to have a clothing bin put out on the corner of 62nd street and 11th avenue to help the homeless out. I then sent out flyers to each house on my block to go through their closets and to donate clothes and shoes into this bin. It's been a great success since now the bin has been filled and I see these homeless families come with their children to get clothes.

Other than that I also have an impact on my younger sister, Angela. She somewhat feels neglected as a child since my dad died yaers ago and my single mom always works and I go away to school. I recently came home from school for winter break and I did many things with her including enrolling her in art classes since she is very good at drawing. She feels that she is not since she has no one to support her but I was there for her since I knew that no one was there for me while growing up and it would really make a difference in her life if she knew that she was appreciated for her talent in drawing. Since me and my sister are very close we tend to get our periods around the same time. My sister and I get a very heavy flow and sometimes we feel like we do not want to move. To ease this discomfort me and my sister go jogging, then we do yoga. Yoga relaxes the mind and body which eases your muscles during your period. Also we go shopping and go to the movies to prevent ourselves from staying home and feeling uneasy. Some things that make me feel better during my period is running and then taking a shower and feeling so refreshed. I then invite some of my girls over and we have party where we dress up and dance. It's fun since it makes me feel so much better and I know I can look good regardless if I am on my period or not. I feel I should be the Always Fresh Face because I know I can make a difference to all those girls who have no where to turn to for support and for advice on not only period comfort but on feeling beautiful everyday even when they are not on their period.

It's hard being a girl but it's not hard to be there for other fellow girls who are basically going through the same thing you are. Thank you for your time and patience and I wish other contestants good luck.
