Pregnancy, discharge and yeast infections

Pregnancy and discharge and yeast infections

You may experience an increase in vaginal discharge during your pregnancy due to higher levels of estrogen. This thin, milky, mild-smelling discharge is perfectly normal and plays a role in keeping you and your baby healthy. The amount of discharge can possibly increase until term, sometimes becoming quite heavy.

Yeast infections

As pregnancy progresses, the frequency and intensity of yeast infections can increase as a result of your changing hormone levels. Foul-smelling or colored discharge can indicate a yeast infection and you should seek medical advice if you notice this. It usually responds well to treatment, so talk to your midwife, gynecologist or doctor if you are suffering.
